He didn’t know how much time passed before they woke, but as soon as they did, the need for a shower became obvious. Like no time had ever passed between them, it was silly and playful and everything it would have been if he’d been brave enough to know what he wanted.

But he did now, and he could never look back.

Once they’d pulled on the clothes that had been left for them in each of the bedrooms, they joined up in the kitchen to see what was there.

Rehydration came in the form of sparkling water in the fridge, and Muller had even ensured they had a bag of pretzels.

Jules smiled to himself as he found a bowl, wondering if Dante remembered that day in the library. Would it be silly to bring it up? Probably.

Dante was still investigating their food options. “Eggs and bacon in here,” he said, opening up a drawer of the fridge. “Juice, too. Oh, and bread on the counter.”

Jules propped his chin on his fist and hummed. “Mmm. Breakfast.” How much does Muller know? No, don’t be silly, he told himself. Everyone needed breakfast, whether or not they were…

Understanding lit up Dante’s eyes, but before Jules could go on, he leaned in to press a finger over his lips. “No, you don’t. The important thing is that you came back. The next most important thing is that you kiss me.”

So Jules chuckled and obeyed, relief rushing through him like a tidal wave.

Dante forgave him. And therefore, everything was right in the world. They didn’t need words. They just needed each other.

When Jules finally pulled back from the kiss to catch his breath again, he swayed on the stool.

Did Dante know how intoxicating his kisses were? And they were all Jules’. The thought made a grin of pleasure spread over his face.

“So, no other guys, huh?” Jules asked.

Dante played with his empty glass, sliding it this way and that over the counter. “Uh uh.”

“And when it comes to us… are you…” Jules licked his lips. Damn it, Dante had forgiven him so many lacking words today that the least he could do was pull together these ones. “Do you want this to continue?”

It was a silly question. Everything between them felt so natural—like an unstoppable force of nature. A floodgate had burst open. There was no closing it again. A
